Description
The Real Estate and Public Finance Paralegal provides substantive legal support to attorneys in the Public Finance Practice Group. This position assists with all phases of public finance transactions, including bond issuances, affordable housing transactions, and other municipal finance matters, with an emphasis on real estate due diligence, title and survey review, transaction management, closing coordination, and post-closing activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing numerous deadlines in a fast-paced transactional environment.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with all stages of public finance transactions, including bond issuances, affordable housing financings, development deals, and other municipal finance matters.
- Order, review, and analyze title commitments, title exception documents, surveys, zoning reports, and other due diligence materials for affordable housing and development transactions.
- Prepare title and survey summaries and assist attorneys with identifying and resolving title and survey issues.
- Coordinate with title companies, surveyors, lenders, developers, governmental agencies, and other transaction participants throughout closings.
- Prepare, organize, review, and proofread transaction documents and closing materials.
- Coordinate the collection and distribution of due diligence materials.
- Manage transaction checklists and monitor deadlines to ensure timely completion of all transaction requirements.
- Prepare signature packets and oversee execution of transaction documents.
- Coordinate closing logistics with attorneys, clients, underwriters, bond counsel, trustees, financial advisors, and other transaction participants.
- Organize and maintain electronic closing files.
- Prepare closing binders and post-closing documentation.
- Track receipt of executed documents and assist with finalizing closing deliverables.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of paralegal experience in commercial real estate, public finance, corporate transactions, commercial finance, or a related legal practice area preferred.
- Experience with title and survey review strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of transactional legal processes and documentation.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to client service.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to adjust priorities based on transaction demands and closing schedules.
