WHEDA is seeking a Manager to join our Commercial lending team for Real Estate in our Madison office. The position of Manager Commercial Lending is responsible for management of the commercial lending pipeline and all pipeline related activities including managing staff responsible for those activities. This position acts as product owner for commercial products.
SALARY: Hiring Range for this position is from $85,275 to $106,404 Annually. Offered Salary will be based on qualifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Manages commercial lending activities, which includes planning, coordinating, administering of commercial lending pipeline and all pipeline related activities, and evaluating products, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
- Manages a team of professional staff, ensuring adequate training and opportunity, prioritization of tasks, monitoring individual performance and providing feedback to staff.
- Serves as product owner for various commercial products which includes coordinating applications, as needed, implementation of product and longer-term oversight of success.
- Responds to requests for information and provides subject‐matter‐expert guidance to other departments, customers, general public and/or outside agencies. Serves on a variety of internal and external committees, task forces, and other Authority committees to secure advocacy and influence support for programs and ideals.
- Acts as key liaison, along with underwriters, for potential borrowers.
- Ensures high quality, error free and timely decision and discussion papers to loan committees and Members of the Board related to areas of responsibility.
- Provides assistance to department director; develops and interprets complex reports and analysis, including analysis of potential new or revised products. Develops communication, guidance, and training for internal and external partners. This may include public speaking.
- Performs or assists with other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in closely related field AND 5 years of progressively responsible experience related to commercial or multifamily lending, including 2 years of supervisory experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Advanced knowledge of multifamily and economic development lending, guarantees and housing tax credit principles and practices
- Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and procedures
- Business development principles and processes
- Negotiation methods
- Proven coaching and mentoring skills
- Managerial and supervisorial principles
- Product and program development and implementation principles
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal affordable housing programs and associated laws, regulations, codes, standards, and compliance requirements

- Strong adherence to confidentiality in working with clients and vendors
- Attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot for process improvement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Successful prioritizing and management of work projects
Remote Work Options:
This position has a work schedule that will initially be 100% in-office. After training is complete, it is at the discretion of the direct manager when the employee may begin a hybrid work schedule.
