The Lead, Real Estate Data Strategy & Analytics will be responsible for managing, collecting, optimizing and analyzing real estate data to provide new insights and direction. The Lead, Real Estate Data Strategy & Analytics will collaborate with all teams across Workplace Services to develop strategic insights and recommended actions that help build an efficient workplace for Northern Trust. You will help build the future of real estate data with scalable systems that find the value in data from smart buildings and existing Workplace Services databases. 

This role will also partner with other data teams in the company, and you will have a flair for innovation and building relationships along with a desire to guide others, a strong financial acumen with a bias to operational excellence and an almost obsessive attention to detail. Ability to partner with teams across the company is a must.

Here are some other things you will do:

  • Establish and drive on the vision and strategy for real estate data analytics to advance our data-focused culture across Workplace Services.
  • Lead the design, development, integration, and launch of real estate technology services with a focus on user experience.
  • Ensure ongoing reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Create the Workplace Services data governance structure and ensure high quality and data accuracy.
  • Perform detailed review of all dashboards and data sources, existing and future, related to leasing, utilization, occupancy planning, operations, sustainability, etc., and lead efforts to optimize where there are opportunities.
  • Drive continuous innovation in our data processes and deliverables, ultimately driving increased data driven decision making, and minimizing manual processes.
  • Drive technology and data roadmap for Workplace Services tools, and measure success for the tools.
  • Work with stakeholders to align on business requirements, technical requirements, and strategy, and schedule regular data reporting reviews with stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular training to ensure that data is accessible and approachable. 
  • Administer real estate systems, managing permissions and acting as System Administrator as necessary. 
  • Manage the financial planning and budgeting of real estate data and technology.
  • Partner and build relationships with Workplace Services teams, stakeholders, and business partners to support real estate technology and data needs and strategy.
    Manage vendors to ensure real estate software versions are maintained. 


The successful candidate will benefit from having the following competencies:

  • Experience in data strategy in commercial real estate
  • Experience in cloud data management and data stewardship/governance processes
  • Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies
  • Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
  • Ability to explain data sources and analytical approaches/options to different audiences (including executives, business units, and IT)
  • Experience with complex relational databases and programming languages with an aptitude to learn other technical applications
  • 8-10 years of previous experience working with key real estate data assets like occupancy data, sensor data, badge data, work orders, spatial data, and other secondary data
  • 5+ years of experience designing programs, policies and procedures to govern uses of data assets
  • Experience presenting complex information to senior leaders in a concise and streamlined manner
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline (including Technical Field, Computer Science,
  • Mathematics, Analytics) and 8-10 experience in data governance & analytics related roles
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills: demonstrated ability to structure complex problems, develop solutions
  • Proven change agent with stakeholder/client management experience
  • Self-starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high performance teams
  • A highly flexible working style, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • A self-starter who leads by example, demonstrates good judgment, has excellent analytical skills, and is detail-oriented
  • Creative problem-solver with proactive work style and a sense of ownership
  • Expectation of complete confidentiality on all business matters
