Townsend is searching for an Analyst on its team in Cleveland to focus on real estate fund due diligence activities servicing both Townsend's advisory and discretionary client needs. The role will report into the Principal responsible for leading and coordinating real estate fund due diligence including analyzing real estate markets and identifying and evaluating real estate fund investment opportunities for institutional client portfolios.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support the identification, evaluation and management of a diverse range of third-party fund managers and real estate fund investment strategies and support commercial negotiations. Support the preparation and presentation of recommended real estate fund products both internally to advisory teams and portfolio managers and externally to institutional clients. Primary responsibilities include quantitative analysis of third-party fund managers and investment strategies with an emphasis on historical performance and analysis of fee/waterfall structures. Assist in the collection, maintenance, and analysis of proprietary industry data from third-party fund sponsors and data sources. Meet with a broad range of external real estate fund managers, including preparation of notes and preliminary evaluation of potential strengths and weaknesses. Build and maintain strong relationships with external fund managers and internal investors. Longer term responsibilities and growth opportunities include primary authorship of investment diligence reports, direct communication with Townsend Clients, leading meetings with external fund managers and formulation of investment ideas, participation in real estate investment management industry conferences, research events, networking events with occasional travel. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, economics, or other related field. 0-3 years of relevant experience and/or near-term graduate. A strong working knowledge of MS Office Products, particularly Excel. Possess a genuine interest in real estate and a desire to forge a career in the real estate investment management field. Detail oriented with strong financial, analytical and report writing skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Self-starter, capable of working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously. CFA candidacy preferred but not required. Minimum GPA of 3.5.
