At this pivotal moment, NYU seeks a strategic and visionary leader to serve as its next Senior Vice President for Global Real Estate, Facilities and Development. This newly created position ensures that the University is actively and strategically improving, developing, and managing its real estate assets, campus plan, and capital program in full alignment with the University’s commitment to academic excellence and community engagement. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Finance, Investment, Infrastructure, and Technology, the Senior Vice President will serve as the University’s senior executive responsible for responsible for planning and overseeing the effective execution of the University’s capital program, including major construction and renovation projects across NYU’s global footprint. The SVP will work closely with deans, faculty, senior administrators, and external partners to shape and execute a bold vision for NYU’s physical environment.
Key priorities for the Senior Vice President include leading NYU’s capital strategy and campus planning efforts, overseeing major real estate development initiatives, and managing relationships with tenants, community stakeholders, and government entities. The SVP will be responsible for maximizing lease revenue, driving financially sustainable development aligned with presidential priorities, and ensuring that NYU’s facilities and infrastructure meet the evolving needs of its academic, research, medical, and service missions.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned and forward-thinking executive with 15+ years of real estate development experience, including experience in economic development, facilities, and operations and placemaking. They will bring a strong track record of leading large-scale real estate capital initiatives, including strategy development, financial planning, property searches and space allocations. They will have demonstrated success in managing a multi-functional global real estate portfolio of comparable complexity in higher education, government, healthcare, scientific, or technology sector, on scale similar to NYU’s holdings. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, finance, public administration, real estate, or a related field is required; an advanced degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
