About the Role
Dugas & Circelli, PLLC is a top-tier nationwide law firm with a growing Real Estate Transactional Practice Group (RETPG) serving developers, owners, lenders, title companies, brokers and other commercial real estate businesses. Our Houston office is hiring a Senior Business Development Manager whose sole focus is bringing new, high-quality commercial real estate clients to the group.
This is not a marketing-support position. It is a front-line, relationship-driven role for someone who already knows the Houston commercial real estate community, speaks the language of the business side of the industry, and is comfortable asking for the work.
What You Will Do
- Set and attend in-person meetings every week with new key contacts at title companies, developers, banks, owners, brokers and other commercial real estate companies, with the goal of introducing them to RETPG attorneys and originating new engagements.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with existing clients through regularly scheduled meetings and touchpoints.
- Identify, book and attend industry conferences and events in Houston, across Texas and out of town; represent the Firm professionally and follow up on every contact.
- Plan and coordinate RETPG business development events with local real estate organizations.
- Manage client-facing gestures, including post-meeting gifts and follow-up.
- Track which sectors of the commercial real estate market are active and direct outreach accordingly.
- Report directly to the Chair of the RETPG and work on-site in our Houston office, except when meeting clients or attending events.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years in a business development role in the commercial real estate industry (title, brokerage, lending, development or a related firm). Prior law firm experience is helpful, but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, business, marketing or a related field.
- An existing network of decision makers in Houston commercial real estate and a demonstrated record of converting relationships into business.
- Fluency in commercial real estate terminology and deal structure on the business side, not just the legal side.
- Polished, professional presence; comfortable in boardrooms, at closings and at industry events.
- Availability for evening events and periodic travel.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus a performance-based bonus program tied to the growth and profitability of the practice group. Firm-paid expenses for conferences, client meetings and marketing; employer partially paid health insurance on the Firm’s customary plan; 401(k) eligibility after one (1) year.
To Apply
Submit a résumé and a short cover letter describing the commercial real estate relationships you would bring to the role. Interviews will be conducted in person in Houston in a single round.
