Bring your expertise to JPMorgan Chase. As part of Risk Management and Compliance, you are at the center of keeping JPMorgan Chase strong and resilient. You help the firm grow its business responsibly by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your expert judgment to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers, and communities.As a Real Estate Appraisal Lead within the Valuation Services Group, you will bring your expertise and knowledge to a team that specializes in multifamily and commercial appraisal assignments, with a strong emphasis on multifamily product ranging from 5 to 500 units. We are dedicated to helping real estate appraisal professionals grow with our team. We will provide all the equipment, training, data sources, and software for real estate appraisers who have an eagerness and passion for ensuring that appraisal reports meet our strong quality assurance standards. This position will provide experienced real estate appraisers with an opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative team.
Job Responsibilities
- Appraise 5+ unit multifamily residential, mixed use and/or commercial properties, including certain complex properties, to estimate the market value for federally-related financial transactions in accordance with internal policies/procedures, industry standards and regulatory requirements (USPAP & FIRREA).
- Lead and mentor a team of 1-3 trainees and/or analysts, providing guidance, training, and support to develop their skills and knowledge in commercial real estate appraisal.
- Review and evaluate contributions from trainees/analysts within appraisal reports, ensuring quality and adherence to company standards.
- Manage multiple appraisal projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion and delivery of high-quality reports.
- Using risk-based decisions, ensure that appraisal reports are complete, accurate, credible, relevant, and reasonable based on sound real estate appraisal methodology.
- Possess strong knowledge of local real estate metro areas, neighborhoods and national real estate trends.
- Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear and well-supported justifications for appraisal conclusions.
- Work with other geographic regions as assigned.
- Oversee real estate market participant surveys related to rents, sales and industry trends.
- Lead and/or participate in special projects such as in-depth market analysis or technology enhancements.
- Understand building construction types, flood/environmental hazards, earthquake and zoning conditions as pertinent to appraisals.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- State Certified General Appraiser License.
- Minimum a 4-year college degree.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in appraising and/or reviewing multifamily residential, mixed-use, and/or commercial properties.
- Experience appraising properties with complex characteristics.
- Comprehensive knowledge of DCF analysis and vendor software.
- Demonstrated high performance, culture-carrier, teamwork focus, and ability to lead and achieve desired goals.
- Strong analytical, business writing, and oral communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in computer/technology applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- MAI or SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute (preferred).
- Significant experience appraising for financial institutions.
- Well-seasoned real estate appraisal expert who wants to bring their significant expertise and knowledge to a team that specializes in multifamily and commercial appraisal assignments, with a strong emphasis on multifamily product ranging from 5 to 500 units.
