Description
The Department of Economics and Finance in the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration is seeking to hire a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 16, 2026. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to help build and support a new program in real estate, the first of its kind in the state, housed within the Department of Economics and Finance.
Purpose of Position
The successful candidate will teach up to five courses a year in our Real Estate program including introductory and advanced courses both in person and online. The position also includes mentoring students and developing and maintaining a robust research agenda aligned with AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) standards. The successful candidate will be expected to publish high-quality research in leading real estate, finance, or economics journals. Service to the department, college, university, and profession will also be an important part of the position.
The new BBA with a Major in Real Estate emphasizes applied learning in key areas such as:
Real estate finance and investment
Real estate development and project management
Market analysis and valuation
Legal and regulatory issues
About UND and Nistler College

The Department of Economics and Finance boasts the largest number of overall majors and student credit hours across departments/schools in the College. The BBA with a Major in Finance is currently the largest major in the College.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
PhD in real estate, finance or economics from an AACSB accredited institution required by start date
Evidence of quality teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
Evidence of scholarly research activity commensurate with experience
Ability to meet AACSB Faculty Qualification standards for Scholarly Academic (SA)
Successful completion of criminal history records check

Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of ability to teach at the undergraduate/graduate level in real estate
Potential to conduct research and publish in high quality journals in the real estate finance, investment, appraisal, housing, urban economics, or real estate-related topics
